Q: I NEED body parts for a 2001 INFINITI QX4 PLEASE HELP?
I have been calling tons of junk yards all over the states!! i need a driver side headlight and front bumper cover. not many people have infiniti or other foreign cars in their junk yards. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF JUNKYARDS THAT HAVE THESE PARTS FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR OR A JUNKYARD THAT HAS FOREIGN MADE CARS???
A: try carpart.com you can search on this website for those parts. you put in your area code and it searches all the salvage yards in your area and tells you quality of the part and how much it is and how close the part is to you.
try nissan only wreckers/infiniti only wreckers
try autogator (they specialize in nissan/infiniti)
try ebay
also try your local auto body shop for the bumper cover. if you are going to install it yourself they will probably sell it to you for their cost.
do you need the whole headlight assembly? or just the bulb?
i have used all of those websites for my nissans and infinitis and have had good service and good prices and quality parts.
Q: what size speakers are in my 2001 infiniti qx4 suv?
A: Go to Home Depot and get a measuring tape.
Q: how do you change the low beams on a 2001 infiniti qx4?
A: your best bet is to contact a repair shop or a dealership
Q: 2001 Nissan Pathfinder or 2001 Infiniti QX4?
Any recommendations?
A: The QX4 is just a Pathfinder in a fancy dress. I would actually get a 2001 Toyota 4runner Limited in Millenium Silver (the best silver ever made)
Q: I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 needs front clip help!!?
a part here or there- anything- i hit a cow and the motor is great!! but I don't want to get them from infiniti- prefer to find one that is gonna be parted out whether at a salvage yard or anything even some aftermarket parts would be fine.
A: ebay your local salvageyard or maybe a infinti dealership but probley not seeing as how they no longer make the qx4
Q: Does anyone know why my ABS light is on? Own a 2001 Infiniti Qx4.?
This light came on IMMEDIATELY after I had a custom stereo installed. Of course, the stereo guy said the ABS light has nothing to do with what he did. However, I have to go back because one of the speakers is already not working, so who knows.
A: Stereo installers are INFAMOUS for connecting to wires that they shouldn't have.
That said, and considering that it occurred IMMEDIATELY after the installation, it causes pause.
The computer runs a self-test of ALL sensors and components every time it is started, and at periodic intervals as you drive. The computer has run a self-test and found that there is a circuit that measurements are out of range.
The light is an indication that the ABS has been disabled, though the BRAKES themselves are unaffected.
When you get the speaker repaired, insist that they check the installation for errors.
If none are found, go to a reputable repair shop, or better the dealer, and ask for diagnostics for the indicator light.
If the cause is found to be in the stereo installation, give the installer one last chance to rectify his error and make a legitimate repair.
If he fails to do so, have someone else do it, and then send him the bill for the cost of repair.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas
Q: 2001 Infiniti QX4 steering problem?
Is it normal for this model to have a shaky steering wheel when the vehicle is going over 70 mph?
A: It's not normal on any vehicle!
Did you check the lug nut torque already?
If not loose lug nuts, then worn tires, tire belt separation, out of balance wheels, or bent rims are the cause of the shake.
You're supposed to rotate the tires every 7,500 miles to keep the wear even. I'd balance my tires every 15,000 miles with that model.
If you have over 40,000 miles, have them check the tie rod ends and ball joints for excessive play.
Q: Wiring Diagrams for 2001 Infiniti qx4?
3500 V6 motor, Coil packs and fuel injected (6 of each) Car will not fire. Have done everything I can think of. Need links to free wiring diagrams From injectors to computer, ect. Anyone have these or other suggestions? Thanks in Advance!
When I said "car won't fire" I meant that there is no juice, no spark... Not just that it won't start...
A: Maybe it is in security lock-out, put the key in driver door with doors shut and turn key left and right 3-5 times, I can`t remember how many but I know you start by locking.
Q: My son has 2001 infiniti qx4 and wants to put 20" rims and tires on it. Is this possible??
A: Yes, but it's expensive, and stays expensive with the price of tires. Sounds like he's pampered anyway though, so go right ahead.
Q: im looking for body parts to a 2001 Infiniti QX4 please help!!?
i have been calling tons of junk yards all over the states!! i need a driver side headlight and front bumper cover. not many people have infiniti or other foreign cars in their junk yards. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF JUNKYARDS THAT HAVE THESE PARTS FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR OR A JUNKYARD THAT HAS FOREIGN MADE CARS???
i need details about the places u suggest...phone number, address or at least the city and state its located thanks
A: According to www.car-part.com, that model of QX4 has 3 sub-generations, dependong on the production date (on driver's door jamb sticker, or put your VIN number in Carfax to find out). For vehicles built until 9/00, there is one in St. Cloud , MN for $85.
As for getting just a front bumper cover, you mght have to buy the whole front bumper assembly. There's one junkyard (M&M Auto parts, 1-800-586-5492) in Stafford, VA that says they have it, so give them a call and see if they'll just sell you the cover.
Q: INFINITI QX4 is a good deal and reliability for me?
I am a international sturdent in Houston, Tx. I am thinking about purchasing a 2001 Infiniti QX4 with 130000 miles on it, and I would pay $8000 dollors for it. It drives very smooth and quiet, the body is very good, no damage on it, one owner. But, a little high mileages is only thing I worry about. This price is a good deal for me or how much is better to own it? Have there any problems i need to take about likes maintenance etc...?
I would very happy to listen any good news and bad news, and sorry my english, I try to do it well.
Thanks Kevin
A: That isn't too bad of a price but you want to make sure that the high mileage has been mileage that was well maintained! Get an independent mechanic to give the car a real check and make sure and get a Carfax or Experian Autocheck so that you can see more about the car's history.
If it has been maintained well and you continue to do the same then you can consider this a good investment so that you will have some good resale value when you are done with it.
Good luck!
Q: anyone know why the rear-end clunks on infiniti qx4's when letting off accelerator then pushing on accelerator
test drove a few 2001-2003 infiniti qx4's with 4x4 and they have a loud clunking noise coming from the rear-end (pumpkin) when u let off the gas and then step on the gas. i was driving 55mph and would let off gas during traffic and then accelerate and it clunks. almost sounds like the yolk on driveshaft is slapping or butting up against something metal? does anyone know what the noise is or where it is coming from? i test drove qx4's with 30,000 miles on them and it did it and ones with over 100,000 miles and it did it too. infiniti dealer said it is normal and that jeep cherokees do it too
A: it's called gear lash.
What you are hearing is the pinion gear riding up and down on the ring gear, and Jeeps do it too.
Most Nissans do the same thing due to the tolerances they were built under. My '03 Frontier pickup has a given amount of lash...Not a serious problem (or even audible except under severe transition). and I don't notice it too often. The u-joint check is not a bad idea, but if everything is tight then gear lash is the source of the noise.
don't stress on it unless there is a noticeable bearing howl that accompanies it (either on accel or decel).
Q: Infiniti vs Ford?
I was wondering what do the majority of you think is a better Vehicle 2001/03 Infiniti Qx4 or 2003 ford explorer
A: I don't like Fords and I don't like the older Infinitis (I like the newer ones). But if I had to chose, I'd take the Infiniti. Ford just makes cheap cars. The interior has way too much plastic and looks low quality. Having driven American, Japanese and German, Ford ranks pretty low on my desirability list.
Q: Steering wheel started shaking yesterday, and today brakes started grinding!?
What is this, and are they related? Grinding seemed very "deep" and sounded awful! I had to drive over 200 miles on it today for work (mainly highway) and could not pull over because I would have been stuck in the middle of nowhere!
The car is a 2001 Infiniti QX4; bought it brand new and never had any problems with it before. It has less than 50,000 miles on it.
I made a service appointment for Monday (about 15 miles away) and will not drive it till then. I'm worried about how much it will cost to fix, since the warranty has expired already. Hundreds? Thousands? Any info or insight on the problem and cost would be much appreciated. Thank you!
WOW -- thank you to all for the very informative and detailed responses. Honestly, there was such a "fear of the unknown," and it just helps so much just to know what to expect. So THANK YOU!
A: Guy above me is correct, once you start hearing a deep grinding sound, your car ( or truck ) is in TROUBLE. If you only drove it a few miles, with light braking, you might get away with it. If you drove the 200 miles in stop-and-go traffic, you could have done significant damage. Rotors can run anywhere from $50 to $500, depending on whether front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, etc. If you have a front-drive car, sometimes the rotors are mounted specially to the drivetrain and are EXPENSIVE to replace. If they come off separately, then then can be cheaper.
50k miles for brakes sounds about right, depending on usage. Brakes are usually cheap, but it's the rotor replacement that runs the bill up, and more so for 4x4 or front-drive cars. if you replace one side, you should (to be safe ) replace the other to match. So, it all depends now on how deep the scoring is on the rotors. They may can be saved, IF you drove conservatively. If you drove fast up to a light and hit the brakes hard constantly, you've probably toasted at least the worst one. You won't know until you get it to a repair shop, hopefully one you can trust.
yes, the shaking and the grinding are related, as either the pad was partially ground thru, so part of the rotor had a pad, the other just metal, which would make it try to stop turning at different rates, and cause the shaking. Once the entire pad is gone, it would just be grinding. Plus, if one side has lost the pads, and the other still has some, it'll brake at different rates, and cause the vibration as well.
Good luck!
Q: no power steering, brake light on, battery light on?
what is wrong with my 2001 infiniti qx4
A: Always check the simplest things first.
From the most likely to the less likely but possible: Loose or broken belt, failed alt., bad wiring connector or loose coneection, computer problems, rats chewing on the wiring. On that last one, it happened to me and chewed up the wiring harness.
Brake light on could be related or just have happened at the same time. Check to see if the emergency brake was left on. Brake fluid is low, loose or bad connection with wiring, Remote possibility that it's related to the above and a computer problem, but that's pretty remote.
