Q: Anyone know how to program a remote for a 1999 Infiniti Qx4?
Just got it off ebay, instructions were supposed to come with....
A: The guy that said to lock the doors and insert the key is right but after the lights flash (after you hit the buttons on the remote) you need to unlock the doors with the door switch, and then open and close the drivers side door. Then you can use the remote.
Q: what does the bottons above the driver on the mirror do in infiniti qx4 1999?
A: Read the Owner's Manual.
Q: Is it possible to put 20 " rims on a 1999 Infiniti QX4?
A: The simple answer is yes! He didn't ask you clowns if you think it's 'ghetto', or if it looks nice. Why offer additional info if it's going to be negative?
Watch me kids; FYI, you can fit 22's on your QX4 also. I've seen an older model Nissan Pathfinder with 22's, which is built on the same platform as your truck. See?
Best of luck with your wheels homie.

Q: problems with QX4?
i have a problem with my 1999 infiniti QX4. After everytime i accelerate over 50mph, i take my foot of the pedal and 1 second later my car jerks a bit.
Also my car has a hard time switching gears when im accelerating at high speeds
what do u think is the problem?
A: Take it to a Transmission shop, don't mess with tranny problems they are expensive if you ignore them, you could just need the tranny fliud change or it could be a electronic module going bad
Q: 1999 QX4 Emergency Brake Light Question?
i have a 99 infiniti qx4. i had a problem about 3 months ago when my e-brake light starting coming on randomly and i couldn't get it off. i ignored it too long and ended up having to have completely new brakes put in for about $1,000. That was about 5 weeks ago, and everything has been fine, except now my e-brake light is on. The brakes can't be messed up, they're brand new. I had read that sometimes the e-brake light comes on when the fluid or something is low, but like I said, this seems very unlikely. Is it most likely that I just have a faulty light/sensor? Or is something really the matter?
As a side note, whenever I'm on a bumpy road and the car, ya know, lands "hard" after a bump like an off-road site or contstruction site, the light often then goes off, which makes me think something is getting "slammed" into place. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrew
A: First of all, go check your brake fluid.
The brake light comes on for a few reasons. The most common is having your e-brake engaged or low fluid.
The fluid level will go down as your brakes are used, because the pads or shoes will wear down and the fluid will fill the pistons so that the distance to the rotor or drum stays the same regardless.
The fluid level indicator will be under you hood. It's usually clear to slightly yellow/brown. Only fill it with a new bottle of fluid (so buy the small bottles) and don't do it on a very humid or rainy day as the fluid absorbs moisture and that's the last thing you want in your brake system.
Who charged you a grand to fix your brakes? I can do a complete 4-wheel brake job for my infiniti for $600 and that's with upgraded equipment.
Another possible problem is that your e-brake is improperly tensioned.
Your brake pedal uses hydraulic pressure to create friction to stop your QX4, the e-brake uses a steel cable. The cable can be over tightened or too loose, but in the case of a brake light issue, it will be over tightened.
Final thought:
If your fluid level is low and you fill it and then it gets very low again before your next brake job, then your probably have a leak somewhere, because the brake fluid is in a closed loop. It shouldn't go anywhere except to extend the pistons when the pads are getting thinner.
Q: How much should a new timing belt cost?
I have a 1999 Infiniti Qx4, and It's time for a new timing belt. How much should one of these cost? Is there any advice on getting a new belt?
A: Around $400 if you know where to look . Ask them for a Chilton
labor time, make sure you look at timing belt replacement only no other extra ..Because every thing there should be included, except parts off course
Q: how often to change oil on a low mileage car?
I only drive 3000-5000 miles per year. How often should I be getting my oil changed in terms of months? I live in a moderate climate in CA - not too hot, not too cold, and don't drive in extreme conditions or offroad.
For reference I have a 1999 infiniti qx4.
thanks!
A: Every 6 months... or 3,000 Miles.
I know this is not OEM, but we work in a lot of fleet situations that only involve that low of mileages. The typical for that amount is at every 6 months, or 3K miles.
Q: Is it my shocks?
My car seems to bounce when I hit a bump, I assume it is my shocks? Is that correct?
Also, how much does it typically cost to replace shocks at like a big o tire? Should I take it to a local automechanic instead?
I have an infiniti qx4 SUV 1999, Please advise?
A: YES EXCESSIVE BOUNCING IS DUE TO WORN OUT SHOCKS REPLACE THEM AND THE PRICE DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU LIVE
Q: Installing New Brakes?
I just replaced the brakes on my 1999 1/2 Infiniti QX4. The problem is that the breaks still squeal. I talked to a friend of mine who is a car mechanic, and he said that in the box with the breaks there is a sheet telling where the lube points on the breaks are. I threw it away. Where and what do I lube the breaks? Please, be specific.
I meant "Where and with what do I lube the brakes?"
No, not this brake squeal. It is absolutely horrendous.
It's quite embarassing to squeal everywhere I go. Thank you for the responses. I pretty much know nothing about cars. I trust that you guys are correct, but all I didn't even know that the calipers had pistons, so I'm just best off paying the money for a professional (or maybe I can get it for free real quick from my friend, lol).
A: the noise you are hearing is brake squeal. it is caused by a slight vibration between the back of the pad and the piston of the caliper. you can get stuff from any local parts retailer. auto zone sells it in small individual packs for a couple bucks each. just apply to the backside of the pads and reinstall. also there is products out now that you can spray to the surface of the rotor to acheive the same outcome. i dont have any first hand experience so im not sure how well it works.
