Q: 1998 Infiniti Qx4, Can someone tell me how to program the keyless remote?

A: The following procedure is for programming keyless entry remote Without The Use Of Nissan Consult. Please read all steps and Note 1 and 2 before proceed. A. 1) Get in the vehicle. Close and lock all doors using the driver's power door lock-unlock switch. 2) Insert and remove the ignition key more than 6 times within a 10 second period (at a rate of one insertion/removal cycle per second). The key should be withdrawn from the ignition key cylinder completely each time it is removed. 3) Turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position. The ignition key should remain in the "ACC" position throughout the remainder of the programming, including programming of additional remote controllers. 4) Press any button on the remote controller one time. 5) If you are programming only one remote proceed to step C1 below. If programming additional remotes, continue with step B1. B. Programming Additional Remote Controllers (Maximum of 4 Remotes): 1) Remain inside the vehicle after programming the first remote. 2) Use the driver's power door lock-unlock switch to unlock and then lock the doors. 3) Press any button on one of the additional remote controllers one time. If there is more than one additional remote to be programmed, repeat steps B1 through B3 above for each additional remote. C. End Programming: 1) Remove the key from the ignition. 2) Use the door lock-unlock switch on the driver's door to unlock the doors. Open the driver's door to complete the programming. The hazard warning lights will flash twice when programming is successful. 3) Check the operation of each of the remote controllers by locking/unlocking the doors with each remote controller you have programmed. NOTE1: Do not rush the insertion/removal key cycling process. The hazard warning lights will flash twice when this step is accurately completed. NOTE 2: Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful. The hazard warning lights will flash twice when this step is accurately completed and programming is successful.

Q: i have a 1998 infiniti QX4 ... break problem?
i have a 1998 infiniti QX4 ... ok the break have been squeeling for awhile now, i think i need to change my break, but i just did that not too long ago... any suggestions ????

A: The squeal is usually the tell tales that make a noise when the front or rear disk pads are worn to where they need replacing. However, with drum brakes, that is an indication of totally worn out shoes, or a broken part. STOP driving the car, go to a mechanic (or friend) and have them checked.

Q: seeking feedback on 1998 infiniti qx4 transmission problem, no reverse?
N D 1 2 ARE ALL MAKE THE CAR GO FORWARD NO REVERSE.

A: No reverse is almost always signs of an internal problem..Probably 90% chance. Is the check engine light on? I would get it scanned either way, many parts places will scan your car for free. A transmission code will probably look something like P0740 or P1740 or possibly P08xx or O18xx. Also does the shift indicator light up when you put into gear(P R N D 2 1)? Yours is an elctronic controlled transmission, if the "Transmission Selector Switch" is bad, the computer doesn't know to put the car in reverse(ie energize the correct solenoids).

Q: My brother got Infiniti QX4 and it rattles on high speed?
Hi there, my brother have an Infinit QX4 1998 truck and has almost 112Miles on it. He's been using it for the last 4 years and never changed the tranny oil. His problem is that when he is driving the truck on 4WD option (Auto Mode), when it reaches 50-70 MPH, it kind of rattles and you can feel little shakes on your steering wheel and gas pedal, kind a like buzzing and when he stops the car and it is still in 4WD, he can hear little noice and as soon as he put it to 2WD, the noice goes away. Please tell me whats going on, weather his tranny is having a problem and how can we fix it. Thanks in advance.

A: yeah he's gonna have a crap load of problems since he has it in 4WD, 4WD is for offroad use not driving 50-70 thats just common sense. its shaking because its not supposed to be in 4WD at that speed and his transmission makes that noise in 2WD because he messed up everything driving in 4WD

Q: Octane booster for my infiniti?
I drive a 1998 infiniti QX4. I put 87 octane rating in my car. Ive heard that adding actane booster will harm my engine. Any truth to that?

A: Well neither answer impressed me. The guy who said he uses it to clean his injectors needs to come see me. I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell him. Octane booster to clean injectors? It has no more injector cleaning qualities than chocolate milk. First, let me ask why you feel you need to use an octane boost. Does the engine ping? In other words are you experiencing engine noise when using 87 octane? If so, I would recommend a higher grade of fuel such as 91 octane. Octane boost or a higher grade of octane do nothing more than offer a slower burn to prevent the engine from pinging. Pinging is the result of uncontrolled combustion. Higher octane slows the burn to help control the combustion. It does nothing else! It does not improver performance, it does not clean injectors, it does not provide a tune up in a can. The reason I recommend a higher grade of fuel over octane boost is simply because of price. I live in the high desert of California. The difference in price from 87 octane to 91 octane is about 20 cents a gallon. On a 20 gallon fill, that is about $4.00. A can of octane boost is about $6.00. Plus I can be assured the higher grade of fuel is blended completely. Pouring in a can of boost does not always make a perfect blend in the tank.

Q: Any idea how the Infiniti QX4 does after 100,000+ miles?
We are looking at a used 1998 with 89k on it right now and most reviews say it is a very reliable vehicle, but I haven't seen anything past 100k miles.
