Q: 2002 Infiniti I35 - sporatic "clacking noise" from engine area.?
I am really baffeled. The engine runs smooth sitting but when I drive it, occasionally it will sound like it is a diesel engine or clacking noise....oil pump?? Can anyone help? I took it to a mechanic yesterday. He didn't think it was major but he wanted me to bring it back Sat. I'm just afraid I may be doing damage driving it till then...? Thanks!

A: This may be to simple, but try eliminating this: Does it doit while acelerating up a hill? Does it do it when you need additional power? Does it do it when leaving a stop sign or signal? Answer? The I35 requires the mid grade fuel of 89 not 87. if you are using 87 or the cheapest, you WILL experience this noise. It called pingingand over time it could cause valve damage. Put some good gas it and buy a bottle of gas additive (doesn't matter), run it through one tank before you go back to the shop. You need to put gas in anyway, the only extra cost you have is the 3 buck for the additive to try my recomendation. I own a I30, learned on my own. Yes I pay more at the pump, but my car runs great, never pings (anymore).

Q: is a 2002 infiniti i35 stereo wired/compatable with satellite radio?


A: It is not prewired for satellite radio as far as I know (at least my 2004 I35 isn't) but when I bought mine I saw that the dealership had installed satellite radio on an I35 so yes it is doable. You might want to consult your local Infiniti dealership regarding this. CORRECTION: The 2002 models were not pre-wired, but pre-wiring was an option for 2003. Pre-Wiring for satellite radio came standard on the few 2004 models Infiniti sold.

A: NISSAN OEM Valve Cover Gaskets Valve Covers are sold individually. So if you need both sides, know that you'll be ordering 2 of them. It is highly recommended that you also replace the Spark Plug Tube Seal(s) when you replace your Valve Cover Gasket if it is applicable.

A: You either have a bad spark plug or wire. It's not that hard to check, make sure that you are wearing heavy rubber gloves, and with the engine runing take off one plug at a time untill you find the one that makes little or no difference. Make sure that you ground each wire so that you are not getting a bad read on the dis system.

I was thinking of buying a used car and driving it for a year and reselling it for close to what I paid. I found two cars that appear to be under wholesale..... 1) 2002 Infiniti I35.... auto, lthr, sunroof, power everything, 100k miles. $6900 2) 2002 Acura CL Type-S.... auto, lthr, sunroof, pwr everything, 150k miles. $6900 Both are in excellent condition and clear Carfax. But the bad part is both cars were discontinued in 2005. So which would you recommend that I could resell 1-2 years later and get close to what I paid or even make a profit?

A: I personally own a Nissan Max with 298000 miles and my husband owns an Infiniti I35. We love our vehicles and I have become a big fan of Nissan (Infiniti is a Nissan product). I would say go with the car that also has lesser miles.
