A: It's built into the ECM you can't "take it out". Explain you're need to push an old sloppy handling Infinity over 120mph? I doubt the car even has the sauce to break that speed ungoverned..... Look stop trying to race mom's old car!

A: Simply unplug it and get proper adapter kit. Then it should work. It only plug up if you get the po[roper adapter kit so that wire are doing the proper job.

A: You could swap just about any engine and transmission parts. The I-30 and Maxima that year are the same except some front end sheetmetal parts tail lights and the gussied up I-30 has better trim interior and Bose sound standard. ANd the J-30 has the same engine as the 300ZX.

Q: Why is my car shaking?
I recently replaced one of the oxygen sensors and my car started shaking. My car has three o2 sensors and I replaced the one before the catalylic converter. It didn't shake before I replaced the sensor. What I noticed is that the sensors are not the same. The one my car had before has small holes all over it. The one I installed doesn't. Could this be the problem? Or could it be an electrical problem (maybe the connector burned out and the sensor is not getting any electricity)? Thanks for your time.

A: you install the wrong o2 sensors and the voltage sent by this sensor is not within the parameter of your cpu, so wrong input will result to wrong output, the engine not be runing right.

So I drive a 1998 Infiniti i30. In my trunk under where my rear speakers are there are metal cylinder things which im assuming are baffles or something of the sort.
With these cylinders I loose tons of trunk height space limiting what size boxes I can put in.
Anyone know what these are or what I can / should do.
I'm thinking either 2 12" l7s or 1 or 2 w7s (12's or 13.5)

A: Dont mess with the cars factory set-up. I would assume its part of a sealed cabinet to give the speakers a deeper tone.
Build a box to fit your trunk, buy a nice set of 10s and dump all your money in the amp, that's really where the sound comes from.
Q: JL W1 subs?
I just bought a 1998 Infiniti I30 and I'm putting a new system in. I found a box at a store with 3 JL W1 10's in a triple enclosure. I was told that they were wired in at 4 ohms together and that it should be about 900 watts rms in the box. Upon reading about the subs, I saw they were only like 125-150 rms each.
So my questions are:
1. What do you all think of the W1 10's?
2. How much power should I be giving them? I have a 2 channel amp pushing like 370 at 4ohm x2 and 880 x 1. Would the 880 be way too much for them to handle?
3. Any other suggestion?
Also, to put a double din touch screen in my Infiniti am I going to need a harness for it / any suggestions?
A: No experience with their newer stuff, but I don't think JL makes anything that is crap. Unlike some people on hear, I believe that power ratings, whether peak or rms, are little more than general indicators. Just because your amp is on, does not mean it is producing 880 watts. You can keep the gain lower to decrease the power if necessary. Back in the day, experts advised that you buy the most (amp) power you can afford. I personally think that holds true. You should be fine.

A: That combo doesn't look bad. Form the looks of it you already know to wire the them down to a 1 ohm final load.
As for the back seat idea. It's not really a good idea to put them in the cabin. I would suggest the you load them in the trunk facing the rear. It's called corner loading. You'll have a better volume of, and quality of sound.
Q: JL vs Kicker?
So recently I bought 3 10" jl W1s in a sealed box. They sound great but they dont hit as hard as Id like but the quality is excellent. I am using the JL 500/1 amp to power it. I heard my friends 2 10" l7 kickers ported and they sounded excellent.

I don't know what I want to do. I feel the kickers will give me the thump but I don't know if I want to lose the quality. I'm up to any other suggestions

A: you could put the JLs in a ported box but you would lose sound quality
there is no comparison- JLs are for sound quality and kickers are for beating- period
if you put a JL and a Kicker in their respective perfect boxes and they are supplied with the same wattage the kicker will pound on the JL all day
(plus JLs are overpriced -amps and subs, and their subs come in those funky impedance's) if i were you i would look for a trade or to sell the JLs and get kickers for the trunk and just upgrade my inside speakers for the sound quality
