Q: 1993 Infiniti G20 A/T switch...what is it for?
I bought a car last weekend and noticed a switch with "A/T" printed on it, and the words "power" and "comfort". I'm guessing it has something to do with the auto transmission, but what exactly is the point? Anybody know?
A: The transmission will rev higher before shifting in power mode, comfort will be smoother. The 91-93 G20 is that most reliable Infiniti, the bottom end of the engine was built for a turbo but never made it to the U.S. because of emissions and the sticker price would of been above 30k.

A: Well I will do better than that. I will tell you how to replace it. Disconnect Battery cable. Remove the air intake duct. Remove the starter bolts. Remove battery cable from starter. Disconnect wiring harness from starter. Remove starter from underneath the car.

So I was on my way to work yesterday and the battery light came on, and stayed on. I've had quite a few problems with this car, especially with needing to jump start the car about 5 times in the past year, and it wouldn't turn over last week so I had to charge the battery. Naturally, I pulled over and called my dad. He said to just go to work and hope the car doesn't die.
I continued on my way(about 8 miles), and as I went little things started to go wrong. For one, my windows and sunroof would move VERY slowly, and I know that means the battery is dying. Point being, I got to work in one piece, but the infiniti wouldn't start after that, or it would start but you could tell the battery was about finished.
We bought a new battery for it today, and it starts right up, but the battery light on the dash is still on. I drove it from my work to my house(about 20 miles) and it drove fine. Is it safe to drive despite the light on the dash, or should I take it in?
A: you have a bad alternator.

A: If the window rolls up it will not be a fuse. It can only be one of 2 things which is easy to check. First thing you need to is make some jumper wires and unplug the electric window motor,,,, see if you can make the window go up and down with another power source. just put the positive on one side and neg on the other and see if the window goes up or down,,, then switch the jumpers,,window should go the opposite direction,,,, if it does move both directions you have a master control switch problem that needs to be replaced. If it was any other window you could borrow a switch from a back door,,,,,

ok i have loved rally cars for as long as ive been into cars. and i recently got my license and 'inherited' a 1993 Infiniti g20. so my question is would it be possible to make it into a sort of rally car. or am i fighting a loosing battle?
A: You can take just about any car and make it into a rally car. My advice to you is to go to a couple of SCCA rallies and get to know a couple of local drivers/crew. You will get a lot more information and education without putting out the money this way. Also, there are a lot of rally blogs/forums that you can get a lot of advice and parts for a lot less than paying new. Consider buying a rally ready car from someone that has done all the work and now wants to move up or out. You will save thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours this way.
